In a statement from the band to fans, “As we all know, it’s been a tough time in Europe with the volcanic ash shutting down airspace in 23 countries and causing travel misery for millions of people.  One minute airports are open- they next they are not.  We are determined to make these shows work but don’t want to disappoint our fans, so it has been mutually agreed upon that the best way forward is to postpone the UK dates.”  Currently Arch Enemy is on the road hitting cities all over the UK through November. 

Arch Enemy is a Swedish death metal band led by female lead vocalist Angela Gossow.  The band originally formed in 1996 as a supergroup with members from Carcass, Armageddon, Carnage, Mercyful Fate, Eucharist and Spiritual Beggars.  To date they have released seven studio albums. 

It was the addition of Gossow that moved the band in the right direction for their critically acclaimed 2001 record Wages of Sin, proving that ferocity can be found with a frontWoman.

This is what the members of Arch Enemy had to say upon hearing the news of Ronnie James Dio’s death this past Sunday, May 16th.

The heavy metal icon died peacefully surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with stomach cancer. The illness forced the singer to postpone and eventually cancel the Heaven and Hell tour scheduled for this summer.
